What is a Service?
A Service is something that needs doing, such as:
- build an extension
- lay a patio or driveway
- dispose of some toxic materials
- organise a wedding
What do you mean by "Trading"?
You can post details about your need for a Service, indicating your selection criteria i.e. things that are important to you and how you want to go through the selection of a Seller, including timescales; how you wish to be contacted and when you want the job/task done. You get help with everything you need, such as storing of documents, pictures and sending messages and emails. And importantly, you are anonymous until you decide to give this up.
Comcero encourages trust and integrity and provides the means to do business the way you want.
Who are the Buyers?
Buyers are people who seek a Service. They could be:
- Consumers
- SME's
- Schools
- Specialists e.g. Estate Agents or Property Developers
Who are the Sellers?
Sellers are people who provide Services. They could be:
- Sole traders
- SME's

The Service I require is very expensive / cheap / complex / simple, can you cope?
Yes, Comcero is designed for all types of jobs, whatever the cost, duration or complexity. There are two ways to use Comcero - Express and Classic.
Comcero Express is for lower value jobs (typically £5-£250) and/or emergency jobs. For example:
- "My car needs washing"
- "The grass in my garden needs cutting"
- "I need a new TV point in my bedroom"
- "My roof is leaking"
The process is simple and quick to reflect the nature of the need.
Comcero Classic is for longer running jobs typically of high value. For example:
- Need somebody to build an extension?
- Need someone to lay a patio or driveway?
- Need a tax specialist?
- Need someone to organise a wedding?
How does Comcero Express work?
- A Buyer posts an Express need.
- Relevant Sellers receive this lead (NO CONTACT DETAILS).
- A Seller can now decide if they want to bid for the work.
- The Buyer will get the first 5 bids from interested Sellers including their contact details and an indication of cost for the job.
- The Seller will see the Buyer's contact details if they are one of the 5 bids.
- The Buyer will choose a Seller and contact them, unless the Buyer prefers you to contact them.
- After the job is finished, both parties rate each other and give feedback in terms of the working relationship and results.
- An audit trail of all activity is retained.
How does Comcero Classic work?
- A Buyer posts a Classic need.
- Sellers receive relevent leads (NO CONTACT DETAILS).
- Seller decides to tender.
- Buyer get responses from interested Sellers.
- Buyer shortlists Sellers (minimum 2, maximum 5).
- Seller accepts shortlisting.
- Both your and the Seller's details are revealed to each other.
- Using simple-to-use tools, both parties enter a dialogue, including meetings, quotations etc.
- Buyer chooses a Seller.
- After the job is finished, both parties rate each other and give feedback in terms of the working relationship and results.
- An audit trail of all activity is retained.
Why not just use Yellow Pages or other directories?
Yes, you can, it's very expensive, but there is a better way:
- You are automatically invited to tender for new business.
- You'll be given an indication of how good a fit your service offer is.
- Reviews tell you how good the Buyer is.
- You decide whether to accept the job/task.
- No more dealing with timewasters or inappropriate enquiries.
Why don't Buyers just Google me?
Yes, they can, but:
- The Buyer may never find you - they usually only look at the first 3 pages returned.
- It's very expensive to get noticed on Google.
- Buyers are frustrated by the amount of information received from Google searches.

How am I protected from rogue Buyers?
With Comcero:
- Every Buyer has a review which you can see.

- Your details are not disclosed until you accept being shortlisted by the Buyer.
- You will be encouraged to report problems, offensive content and any policy breaches to Comcero.
Comcero will be able to issue warnings, limit, suspend or terminate our services or Buyer accounts, if a Buyer is acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies. Rogue Buyers will not be attracted to Comcero - See Buyer Code of Conduct.
How are Buyers protected from rogue traders?
With Comcero:
- Every Seller has a review which you can see.
- When a Buyer posts a need they can state that they will need proof of valid:
- References
- Company registration number and/or VAT number
- Memberships and certifications
- Buyer details are not disclosed until a Seller accepts being shortlisted by the Buyer.
- All activity is recorded.
- Buyers will be encouraged to report problems, offensive content and any policy breaches to Comcero.
Comcero will be able to issue warnings, limit, suspend or terminate its Services or Seller accounts, if a Seller is acting inconsistently with the letter or spirit of our policies. Rogue Sellers will not be attracted to Comcero - see Seller Code of Conduct.
How does Comcero find the best jobs for me?
When you register with Comcero, the on-line form will help you to describe your business profile, skills, qualifications and services. Once this is done, Comcero will match you with Buyers and indicate the compatibility, so you can compare and select the best jobs you want to win.
Can I receive leads without my contact details being disclosed?
Yes, neither you nor the Buyer's contact details are released until you have accepted being shortlisted for the job.
Which parts of the UK are you covering?
We are covering all of the UK, namely; England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
I work nationally / locally, will I get leads in my area?
Yes, when registering you can determine the area you wish to work within.
How many leads will I get?
There is no limit, when a Buyer posts a need that is covered by your own service and location, you will receive it immediately.
How will I get the leads?
Either by email or by logging onto Comcero or by SMS. You can change your preference at any stage.
Can I automatically tender for leads?
Yes, for all jobs categorised as Classic, you can Auto-tender. When set, Comcero will tender, on your behalf, for leads that match the service you offer.
Can more than one person be registered from my company?
Yes, any number of people can be registered from within your company.
Can I store documents - proposals / quotes / letters / certificates?
Yes, you can store several types of documents.
What types of file can I upload, send and receive?
You can view pictures that a Buyer has uploaded to help describe their job. The following file MIME types are supported: Jpeg, Pjpeg, Gif, Bmp and Png.
You can upload and send files to a Buyer, as well as view files sent by the Buyer to you. The following file MIME types are supported: Jpeg, Pjpeg, Gif, Bmp, Png and Pdf.
You can add or edit a Certificate or Membership you have to prove the authenticity of your claim. Please note that this document will be shared with the Buyer once you have accepted their shortlist request. The following file MIME types are supported: Jpeg, Pjpeg, Gif, Bmp, Png and Pdf .
Please note that the maximum size for a file is 1Mb
Can I send messages to my customers or prospects?
Yes, you can send and receive messages.
Can I set reminders and make notes about my meetings?
Yes, you can set all kinds of reminders and write notes about your meetings, even conversations with interested Buyers.
How many competitors will I have?
The maximum number of competitors you will have after being shortlisted is 4 and the minimum will be 1.
Comcero even gives you a shortlist status telling you how many Sellers have been shortlisted to date for a job.
Your details will not be shared with other competitors.
What happens if I cannot do the job now?
If you need to you can withdraw your interest; at tender, shortlist, chosen or at fulfillment stages, we will ask you to tell us why you want to withdraw. The Buyer will be notified accordingly.
What happens if the Buyer withdraws the job?
Comcero will notify you if the Buyer withdraws.
What happens if the Buyer keeps changing his mind about the job?
You can withdraw your interest from the job. The Buyer will be notified accordingly.
What happens if I am too busy or on holiday?
Go to MyAccount > Preferences and select holiday period. You can mark yourself as not available and indicate the dates you are on leave or do not wish to receive new leads.
I want to register, but can I delay getting leads?
Yes, you can. After registering go to MyAccount > Preferences and select holiday period.
What is the minimum age of Buyer and Seller?
The minimum age is 18.
How do reviews / ratings / feedback work?
Reviews are important to build good relationships and levels of trust within the community of users.
A review consists of a rating and feedback. Buyers will be able to see your reviews and you can conversely see theirs.
Can I get information about previous jobs I have done?
Yes, we store all activity information which can be accessed at a later date.
What happens if a Buyer is a timewaster?
You will be able to leave a review to indicate your experience (this must be without any strong language).
What happens if I have a dispute with a Buyer?
Comcero will offer on-line tools for mediation. Because we have an audit of all activity between each party we can help this process.
Does the Buyer pay any fees to be registered on Comcero?
NO.
Does the Buyer pay me or Comcero for the job?
The Buyer pays you directly for the service provided as per your agreements and obligations.
What does it cost me?
It's free!
Can I recommend Comcero to other trades people?
Yes please, just ask them to come to the website www.comcero.com to register. There is a Refer a friend section in Comcero where you can refer friends as Buyers or Sellers.
Can I be registered as a Seller and a Buyer?
Yes, you can, but you will need to register for each seperately.
Can I advertise on Comcero?
There will be advertising space on Comcero. Companies registered as Sellers will not be allowed to advertise on Comcero or sponsor Comcero. This is to ensure that all Sellers can compete on a level playing field. However, companies who want to promote their brands will be able to advertise, for example, manufacturers. See Advertising.

When you post your need your selection criteria is automatically used to match you with the most appropriate Sellers and Comcero will indicate the compatibility, so you can compare and select the best Sellers you want to work with.
Can I receive responses from interested Sellers without my contact details being disclosed?
Yes, neither you nor the Seller's contact details are released until your shortlist request has been accepted by the Seller.
Which parts of the UK are you covering?

There is no limit. When you post a need, it is automatically sent to all the registered Sellers that provide the relevant Service.

What happens if the Seller keeps changing his mind about the job?
You can remove a Seller from responses received or at shortlist. If you withdraw at shortlist stage we will ask you to tell us why. The Seller will be notified accordingly.
I want to register; do I need to post a need straightaway?
No, you can post a need when you are ready.
What is the minimum age of a Buyer?
The minimum age is 18.
